Why use the Scanner Recorder audio player?

Scanner Recorder is a free audio recorder that is primarily designed to record speech. It has a VOX control that allows the user to save disk space when no sound is present in the signal. Attributes from the VOX events are written to a log file. This includes such things as the channel names, TGIDs, frequency, signal strength, and many more. Currently a scanner supporting the sending of this data is not being used. However, date and time stamps of the audio transmissions are still displayed in the Scanner Recorder Player.

Regardless of using the Scanner Recorder audio player or not, the audio archive files are simply compressed WAV files. They can be played in any audio player if timestamp and radio information is not needed.
